IMPORTANT INFORMATION
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A RUSSIAN TOURIST VISA
(MAXIMUM 30 DAYS ONLY)
THINGS YOU HAVE TO KNOW
1. Permission to enter the Russian Federation is a courtesy of the State.
2. In accordance with the International Law, the Consulate in certain cases reserves the right to consider your visa applications for as long as it deems necessary.
3. Consular Officer reserves the right to invite the Applicant to be interviewed in person.
4. Visa can be denied if the Consulate has serious reasons to believe that the Applicant's visit to the Russian Federation is not desirable, and the disclosure of the reason for the denial can be withheld.
5. Visa processing fees received from the applicant are not subject for reimbursement in case of subsequent
NOTE
1. CITIZENS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION REGARDLESS OF ANY OTHER CITIZENSHIP THEY HAVE MUST TRAVEL TO RUSSIA ON VALID RUSSIAN DOCUMENTS ONLY.
2. WE DO NOT ISSUE VISAS FOR THE OTHER STATES OF THE FORMER USSR.
3. YOU CAN APPLY FOR A VISA AT THE RUSSIAN CONSULATE IN MONTREAL IF YOU ARE RESIDING IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC ONLY.
4. ON THE BASIS OF RECIPROCITY, NON-CANADIAN CITIZENS MAY APPLY FOR VISA TO RUSSIA AT THE RUSSIAN CONSULAR MISSIONS IN CANADA ONLY IF THEY HAVE A CANADIAN PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD, WORK OR STUDY PERMIT. IN ALL OTHER CASES THEY HAVE TO APPLY FOR RUSSIAN VISA AT THE RUSSIAN CONSULAR MISSIONS IN THE STATE OF THEIR ORIGIN.
TO OBTAIN A VISA YOU SHOULD SUBMIT TO THE CONSULATE GENERAL:
- Original of completed visa application form, one per person.
- Passport or other travel document in original. At least two pages of the passport should be free from notes.
- One photocopy of information pages of the passport.
- Your photo must meet following requirements:
- The frame size must be 35 mm X 45 mm (1 3/8" X 1 3/4").
- Photo must be made within the last 6 months before the date of application
- The photos must be clear, well defined and taken against a plain white or light-coloured background
- Your face must be square to the camera with a neutral expression, neither frowning nor smiling, and with your mouth closed
- Sunglasses are not acceptable
- The photos must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photo, and include the top of the shoulders.
THE PHOTO MUST BE GLUED ON THE FORM STRICTLY AT RESERVED SPACE
- The most important application document to be submitted is a STANDARD FORM OF CONFIRMATION AND VOUCHER FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS. CONFIRMATION is issued by the Russian hosting travel company. It carries a REFERENCE-NUMBER of the hosting company (which confirms that this company is allowed to receive foreign tourists), personal data of each tourist, dates of trip, itinerary in Russia, services as paid. CONFIRMATION must be signed by authorized person and carry the official seal of the Russian travel company.
- A VOUCHER from Russian hosting tourist company explaining who is traveling, where, when, services as paid. VOUCHER must be signed by authorized person and carry the official seal of the Russian travel company.
Attention! Be ready to present copies of tourist Confirmation and Voucher to the passport control officer at Russian border.
If the visa application is submitted by mail you must include a return envelope with your address and sufficient postage. If submitted by courier a prepaid waybill with an appropriate account # or credit card # must be included.
THERE MAY BE ADDITIONAL CONSULAR FEES or REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-CANADIAN CITIZENS.
All the non-canadians applicants most present to the Consulate the documents which confirms they legal status in Canada (identity card, card of permanent or temporary residents, permition of work or study).
The passport must be valid 6 month after the date of your return from Russia.
ATTENTION! VISAS CANNOT BE SENT TO YOU COLLECT!

All visas are issued strictly according to the dates in Confirmation and Voucher. Double Entry Visas are issued ONLY if specifically indicated in the CONFIRMATION.
NOTE: Same requirements apply to tourists on sea cruise ships. For each cruise there is a Russian tourist company receiving this cruise in Russian port. Please inquire with your cruise company.
If You want entry to Russia for the conferences or shorts business meetings You can not apply for tourist visa. You need the business invitation or tourist invitation with the purpose of your travel – special tourism.
For cruises passengers – You can stay in Russia 48 hours without visa if your name and surname in the tourist group of cruise list of the passengers who want to visit the Russians towns.
If You want to visit the Russians towns by yourself you need the confirmation from Russian tourist company in Montreal or in Russia and apply for tourist visa in Consulate General of Russia in Montreal.
ATTENTION! All documents must be submitted at once. Uncompleted sets will be returned to the applicants without processing. We do not accept documents by fax or e-mail .

VISA FEES FOR NON CANADIANS CITIZENS
Payment of the visa fees must be exact, made by money order payable to the CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION IN MONTREAL. Personal Cheques and cash will NOT be accepted. Visa fees cannot be paid by a credit card.
ANY APPLICATION NOT CONFORMING COMPLETELY TO THE ABOVE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.VlSA FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE.
Visa extension or corrections are not possible. In case visa requires extension or correction, applicant will have to reapply for a new visa. It is not possible to expedite visa processing after your documents have been accepted by the Consulate. The Consulate will not bear any responsibility for the errors in visas, which were not brought to our attention before departure from the Canada
All paperwork once submitted is not subject to any change of the announced visa processing period or the period of stay in Russia indicated in invitation available at the moment of submission. If applicant needs to make changes in submitted paperwork, all documentation will be returned to applicant for resubmission. The visa-processing fee paid is not refundable.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Consulate General would like to inform that all the person’s must verified the name, surname, the dates of entry and departure, and also the passport information when their receiving the passports with visa. The Consulate not has any responsibility for all misprinting after the verification by the clients.
THE LISTE OF THE DOCUMENTS FOR RUSSIAN VISAS CAN BE VARIOUS IN EACH PARTICULAR SITUATION Children apply for separate visas if they travel on their own passports. Non-traveling parents must confirm in an affidavit their consent for their children's travel. If the child's surname differs from that of his (her) parents, a copy of the child's birth certificate must be enclosed.
Applicants who used to be citizens of the USSR or of the Russian Federation and then emigrated from the USSR or from Russia must submit: Canadian Land of immigrant, one of the documents which confirms that they are no longer citizens of the Russian Federation (so called "Visa to Israel" or stamp in their passport saying that they left for "permanent residence abroad" before the 6th of February, 1992 or official document certifying that their Russian citizenship was abrogated), otherwise the applications will not be accepted.
No medical insurance is officially required for the Canadian citizens, unless they stay in Russia for 6 months or more. Prior to your visit, consult your medical insurance issuer for details. On the basis of reciprocity mandatory medical insurance is required for the citizens of Estonia, Israel and Finland, as well as for the citizens of Schengen Agreement Member-States (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and other Schengen states).
